Finding a triathlon club

Having just moved city and gone through the process of looking for a new group of people to train with, I thought I’d quickly jot down my thoughts on what to look for when finding a triathlon club.

A simple Google or search of your National Federation’s website, such as Triathlon Scotland, will turn up triathlon clubs in your local area, but how do you pick?

As part of my leaving present from work, I was given some money and a cycling book – my colleagues know me well! Bath Half – Did Not Start

My running career might have only been going a year, but I was really disappointed this weekend to clock up my first “DNS” (did not start).

On Sunday I was scheduled to take to the line at the Bath Half – my first half marathon. Unfortunately, it was not to be, as 3 weeks before the race I picked up some knee pain (suspected ITB issue). Since then, I’ve competed in 5 sprint and super-sprint distance triathlons, one duathlon, joined a running club and signed up for two half-marathons next year. So a pretty packed first triathlon season! Continue reading First triathlon season

Alternative SKS Chromoplastic Mudguard fitting guide

On Sunday I successfully fitted a set of mudguards to my new bike, as while getting splashed on the commute was fine, it was less fun to get splashed on a weekend cycle in jeans.

I chose the SKS Chromoplastics from Wiggle as they were on offer and look nice in black. The only trouble is that fitting is fiddly and the instructions aren’t all that clear. So without further ado, here is my guide to fitting them. Sadly I didn’t take pictures, so this is not an illustrated guide. Continue reading Alternative SKS Chromoplastic Mudguard fitting guide
